Nordic Heritage Sport Club Receives NENSA Award

release by the Maine Winter Sports Center
June 13, 2010 (Presque Isle, Maine) – The Nordic Heritage Sport Club, operating out of the Nordic Heritage Center, a world class biathlon facility located on the Fort Road in Presque Isle, has been awarded the New England Nordic Ski Association club of the year award for 2010.

This is a great honor, considering that there are many venues in New England hosting races for NENSA and the great facilities involved. Often, locations in more populated areas get more exposure, allowing better opportunities for recognition. Considering our location and the distance many of the athletes and coaches have to travel to compete at the Nordic Heritage Center, this is a great honor.

The membership of the Nordic Heritage Sport Club should take great pride in this award, as without their countless hours of service and the many individuals needed to volunteer to allow the facility to host these events, it is remarkable that we have been recognized at this level.

Last season we hosted the opening event in the NENSA Eastern Cup series, and with little help from Mother Nature, we achieved a record number of competitors – all of whom raved about the quality of the snow conditions and the caliber of the event produced. I am sure that this was a key element in our obtaining this award.

We are blessed with a great group of people who have the experience, drive, and expertise to continue to produce events at this level. This award is the culmination of all their efforts and the efforts of the communities that support our facility. I would like to extend a big thank you to all for their help and support – for more on the Nordic Heritage Sport Club click here.
