February 25, 2008 (Mals, Italy) – It was another outstanding day for Canada and the USA at the 2008 Nordic Junior/U23 Worlds as Alex Harvey (Can) finally hit the 2nd level of the podium in 10km classic race on Monday after a couple of 4th places at the Juniors World these past two years. Harvey missed the gold by a scant 8.2 seconds and this is a best ever for Canada at the Nordic Junior World Championships.

Harvey may have paid for his fast start at altitude as he was the race leader by 13 seconds after the first 5kms. Canada had another outstanding day in putting all of its boys in the top 30 for the second time at these championships – another best ever for Canada. The US was lead by Noah Hoffman, from Aspen, Colo, with a 12th place finish in a time of 29:49.2.

Junior Women

In the Junior Women’s 5km classic race in the battle for the podium there was only 11 seconds between the top 3 skiers with the two Norwegians Therese Johaug and Ingvild Oestberg relegating Lucia Anger from Germany to 3rd place. It was another good day for the US ladies with three of their racers placing in the top 25.
