July 14, 2005 – The Temiskaming Nordic Ski Club is a community club in northeastern Ontario serving approximately 270 members and 800 day-fee skiers each season. As part of our Let’s Go Cross-County project sponsored by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Recreation’s Communities in Action Fund and other community partners, we are looking to fill a one-season contract position. Duties will include instructing beginner skiers and maintaining ski equipment, as well as traveling to schools throughout south Temiskaming (Temagami to Englehart). The instructor will work approximately 36 hours/week from late November 2005 until the end of March 2006. Pay will be $20 per hour.

Qualifications and Skills

The position requires formal certification as a cross-country skiing instructor or coach. A valid driver’s license and fluency in both official languages are essential. Preference will be given to candidates over 25 years of age with good driving records. First aid training would be a significant asset. Most importantly, the instructor must be passionate about the sport and introducing it to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
