October 23, 2005 – Norwegians teams swept both ends of the opening cross country team sprint event Sunday in 55-degree weather. World champions Marit Bjoergen and Hilde G. Pedersen took the women’s six-leg competition by four seconds over Norway II (Ella Gjoemle and Guro Stroem Solli) while Trond Iversen and Johan Kjoelstad nipped Sweden’s Thobias Fredriksson and Bjoern Lind by one-tenth of a second. No Americans raced.
