The top three award winners were decided by the FIS Council from among the 8 finalists. Altogether, 23 projects representing 19 National Ski Associations competed for the awards. A three-member jury selected the eight finalists from among all the entries.
The FIS SnowKidz Award was launched in May 2009. This award aims to recognize and promote the best examples of bringing children to the snow in varying national circumstances. It especially seeks examples of projects that have succeeded in bringing youngsters to the snow for the first time and helped create long-term interest in snow activities among younger generations.
A minimum of three of the eight finalists must represent the developing ski nations. Each finalist’s National Ski Association has received an award of CHF 5’000 whilst the top three were presented with an additional prize of CHF 10,000, 8,000 and 5,000, respectively.
