Boe, who won the Mass Start event at the 2013 World Championships in Nove Mesto two weeks earlier, was happy to win at home in his country. Winning here it is a new feeling; to win at home is special,” Boe told biathlonworld.com. “I joked that I wanted to win at least once before I finished my career, so now I have checked that off my list…No, I am not retiring; I plan to have a long career… It is so fun to be here because my family and girlfriend and a lot of people are here cheering for me. It is fun to give something back to them.”
The North American men had a less then stellar day, as the best placed of the group was USA’s Lowell Bailey in 50th place, 2:25.6 back of the winner Boe. Fellow Americans Russell Currier and Leif Nordgren finished right behind Bailey in 51st and 52nd position, while Canadian Scott Gow was 72nd and American Sean Doherty was 85th.
