Norwegian Women’s Head Coach Egil Kristiansen Resigns

April 26, 2016 – Long-time women’s coach Egil Kristiansen has resigned from the Norwegian national team. Kristiansen has been responsible for the Norwegiam women’s team since 2006 and under his leadership Norwegian women won together 23 Olympic and World Championship gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals.

“I feel privileged to have been given the opportunity to work with the world’s best cross-country skiers. After the season I realised it is time to say good bye,” Egil Kristiansen says.

It is not clear who will take over the job as head coach. Egil Kristiansen worked with the Norwegian Ski Federation since 2001. He is regarded as one of the country’s top coaches and in 2011 he was voted “Coach of the Year ” at Norwegian Sports Gala.
