Dear Beckie,

Hope that this finds you well because we know that you must be happy.

We just heard the great news and wanted to congratulate you on being named this year's winner of the John Semmelink Award as Canada's most outstanding athlete in skiing and snowboarding.

Not only is it great to see you rewarded for all the hard work and commitment you've brought to the sport — and Canadian athletics in general — but it's even sweeter to see a cross country skier in the limelight once more.

Not since the legendary Pierre Harvey has Canada spawned such a well-rounded and outgoing personality on the track, and no one is more deserving to follow in his footsteps than you.

We've always believed in you, Beckie, and we're confident that this is just the beginning of a long and honoured career in sport — whether it be in competition, or as an exemplary diplomat for Canadians athletes abroad.

You make us so proud. (Especially when you wear our gloves on the podium!)

We wish you all the best, and hope we may continue to assist you on your continuing journey into the land of Canadian legends…. You go, girl.
