November 27, 2013 (Canmore, AB) – SkiTrax recently caught up with Canadian National Team skier Perianne Jones who has been seen around Canmore to find out more about the details of her 2013-14 plans. Jones did not head over to Europe with her teammates for the start the season due to some health issues.
“It’s a little strange not being over in Scandinavia with the rest of the crew, but I’m making sure I’m 100% before heading over for the season,” Jones told SkiTrax. “I’ve been recently diagnosed with Hemachromatosis, which is not a big deal at all, and is totally manageable now that we know about it – you can find out more here. Once I leave I’m gone for the year, so I’m okay with missing a couple of races at the beginning to try and optimize the mid-winter (February!) portion of the season.
“That’s the reason for my extra-late departure from Canmore. I was originally planning on coming over for Davos, but now I will arrive just in time for Asiago,” she continued. “I haven’t been on the radar as I’ve been hiding out up at Mount Engadine Lodge. My friends recently took over managing the business, so it’s been awesome to spend part of my weeks up there. It’s a pretty special spot- with lots of awesome skiing.”
