March 17, 2007 (Travisio, Italy) – After two bronze medals in Kranj last year, today in Tarvisio Ioulia Tchekaleva won the first gold medal at the Under23 World Ski Championship of Cross-Country. The Russian benefited from the pursuit 7.5+7.5, achieving the best second time in both classical and free technique.

The second place goes to the stunning French athlete Coraline Hugue, especially during the pit stop with a delay of just six seconds, and the Czech Ivana Janeckova with a fifteen seconds delay.

Only the fourth place goes to the Slovak Alena Prochazkova, who recorded the best time after the first 7.5 km. The half minute spent to pass from skis for classical technique to those for skating compromised her performance. Good result for Silvia Rupil, who came seventh paying for the delay in the classical technique part ended at the seventeenth place. Marina Piller came seventeenth.
