Questions for Sadie – Training Hours

Sadie, I would like to know the number of training hours you have planned for this year? Also, how old you are? And thanks – what you are doing here with this blog is great for younger skiers to see and inspire them in their training and racing. Like those new uni’s!!!

Hi Marty,
I am 24, and last year I trained 620 hours, although a huge portion of those hours was consisting of hiking, aqua jogging, swimming, and hiking. I don’t have a particular number I am shooting for this year, although I know I am ahead of last year; but the difference is I have done hardly any biking, aqua jogging and swimming — instead, now I am doing mostly running, roller skiing, and hiking.

I have always been on the lower side of training, since I am not able to absorb as much as others, so I only hope this can help younger skiers see that there are many ways to train and be fast. I was lucky enough to have a coach that constantly reminded me that everyone was different as I grew up, but not everyone has that positive feedback.

Thanks for the cheers Marty!
Sadie
