Sibley Ski Tour Renamed Sleeping Giant Loppet

by skitrax.com

October 25, 2008 (Thunder Bay, ON) – The 32nd edition of the Sibley Ski Tour will now be known as the Sleeping Giant Loppet which is the actual name of the provincial park where the annual cross-country ski race takes place reports T-Bay’s The Chronicle Journal.

It’s been twenty years since the park area was known as Sibley and event organizer, Peter Gallagher, felt it was time to update the event’s name and to lure more skiers from the midwestern USA, added “Loppet” to the race name and bumped up the prize money. Also new to the March 7, 2009 event will be a 35km race as well as a 50km classic race. For more in this story click here.
