May 12, 2008 – The votes are in and the big winners are Devon Kershaw (Can) who won Best Overall Nordic Skier and Best Overall Elite/U23 Male XC Skier, while Chandra Crawford (Can) was voted the Best Overall Elite/U23 Female XC Skier and Best Sprint XC Skier (Male or Female).

We have a tie for the Paul Robbins Best Breakthrough XC Performance(s) (Male or Female) with Kikkan Randall (USA) and Garrott Kuzzy (USA) neck and neck the whole way – both deserving of this special award in Paul’s honour. Randall won sprint gold in Russia as the first US woman to win an XC World Cup, while Kuzzy placed 9th in the men’s skate sprint at his first World Cup in Canmore, AB. Paul would have loved watching his award go down to the wire.

Some categories had run away winners like Bill Demong (USA) in the Best Overall Nordic Combined category, Tim Burke (USA) who won the Best Overall Biathlete (Male or Female), and Ivan Babikov (Can) the winner of the Best Distance XC Skier (Male or Female).

The Best Overall Jumping (Male or Female) goes to Lindsay Van who was in a tight race with her team mate Jessica Jerome but held on for the award. Kudos to our Best Overall Junior Male and Female XC Skiers, Alex Harvey (Can) and Ida Sargeant (USA) who had fabulous seasons as did all of the winners.
