Storey Wins Open Men’s 6 Km Prologue

September 30, 2006 – The Open Men’s and Junior Women’s fields for the second day of racing at 1st Canadian Roller Ski Championships should be the one’s to watch if the results of the 6 km and 4 km prologue competition has any bearing on results.

Craig Storey dominated the open men’s competition winning in a time of 12:05.4. Chris Mamem (12:45) and Gavin Hamilton (12:47) rounded out the podium in a spirited battle for 2nd and 3rd positions.

On the Women’s side, Sophie Boyer (11:10) of Quebec, out skied Caroline Drolet (11:49) and Camille Pepin (12:11) to take the 4 km Junior Women’s class. In the Open Women’s event, Megan McTavish skied to the top of the podium, posting a time of 14:32 in the 6 km event. Sheila Kealy finished a mere 18 seconds behind to take the silver.

Racing continues on Saturday with the mass start 10 & 20 km Keski Climb.
