April 12, 2013 (Truckee, CA) – Kris Freeman powered away from his competitors at the end of the men’s 50km CL Distance National Championhips, besting teammate Andy Newell, to win the coveted 2013 U.S. title in Lake Tahoe following the USSA SuperTour Finals. April 11, 2013 (Truckee, CA) – Liz Stephen won a landslide victory in the women’s 30km CL event, besting teammmate and World Cup Sprint Champion Kikkan Randall, to earn herself the title at 2013 U.S. Distance National Championships in Lake Tahoe following the USSA SuperTour Finals. November 03, 2011 (South Lake Tahoe, CA) – South Lake Tahoe is having a Backcountry Ski and Gear Swap on November 19. This event is being hosted by Hope Valley Outdoors and The Future Business Leaders of Tahoe. The swap is located at South Lake Community College from 9:00am-3:00pm on November 19. Gear can be dropped off on Nov. 18 from 5:00pm-8:00pm and Nov 19 from 7:00-9:00am. Unsold gear must be picked up from 3:00-5:00pm on the 19.

We are looking for the following gear:
– Alpine touring skis, boots and bindings.
– Telemark skis, boots and bindings. XC skis, boots and bindings.
– Splitboards.
– Skins.
– Collapsible poles.
– Snowshoes.
– Snow safety gear: avalanche probes, shovels, study kits, backpacks and newer transceivers.
– Clean and modern clothing.
– Winter camping gear.

We are also holding a raffle for gear and a 3-day Level 1 Avalanche course with Expedition Kirkwood.
