August  18, 2003 – The cross-country skiing Olympic Champion, Julija Tchepalova, has decided to  sue Adidas for unauthorized use of her personal data. “Since 1998 Adidas has used my name. I never allowed Adidas to use my image and other data for any purposes. Because of this I lost many profitable deals. I want my image rights to be protected. Now my lawyers are estimating the amount of the legal suit. I can say right now that it can exceed  $1,000,000 USD,” said Tchepalova.
