March 12, 2003 – Team Rossignol racer Marc Gilbertson clinched the overall American Marathon Ski Series title in the last point competition held in W. Yellowstone, MT. Gilbertson, a history teacher from Hyde Park, VT took a late flight after his school duties on Friday to arrive just in time for Saturday's race. Supported by his teammate's encouragement, Gilbertson, a 1998 Olympian and one of the most well respected racers on the circuit meant the challenge of the volcanic dusted slow snow conditions to hold on to his lead and win the overall title. Brooke Baughman, another Team Rossignol racer from Ketchum, ID took second in the AMS for the females.

Back in the MT Washington area of NH, the Banknorth Great Glenn to Bretton Woods 50km classic race was being held on an entirely new course which circumnavigated the base of MT Washington. Plagued by almost impossible waxing conditions, Team Rossignol racer Natasha Tereschenko pulled her second classic race of career out of her hat to win the event by over four minutes. Tereschenko, a former member of the Ukrainian biathlon team is the assistant director of the Smuggler's Notch Ski Touring Center in Jeffersonville, VT. After winning the Banknorth Rangeley Loppet the week prior, Natasha became the top overall women for the Banknorth New England Marathon Series by taking one second and two first place finishes.
