July 06, 2013 – The App Gap challenge, part of the Vermont Co-op race series took place July 3rd in the Green Mountain state. A total of 40 competitors from clubs throughout Central Vermont and New England challenged the steep and winding course, which climbs from the Mad River Valley to the top of the Green Mountain ridge via Route 17.  The dual pursuit event is quite a spectacle to watch, with skiers switching equipment in the Mad River Glen ski area parking lot.

We had great coach and parent support, including GMVS, Frost Mountain, Mansfield Nordic, Woodstock, VTXC, CSU and Ford Sayre.  Although the conditions were almost optimum with dry roads and cloud cover, the historical records (2010 – David Sinclair 30:34 and 2012 – Corrine Malcolm 26:37) held for another year.  With the Co-op Series gaining momentum we hope to see this records challenged next year.
