March 27, 2007 – Olympic medalist Toby Dawson (Vail, CO), who was reunited with his birth father and brother on Feb. 28 in South Korea, will appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show today on NBC to discuss meeting his father Kim Jae-su for the first time.
Dawson, 28, had been separated from his parents since he was lost in a street market when he was 3 in the southern port city of Pusan. He has looked for years for his natural parents, had put his search on hold until after the 2006 Olympics. When he became the moguls bronze medalist, Dawson heard from dozens of would-be parents, but waited until completion of DNA tests before returning to his birth country.
Just two days before his trip, Dawson got surprising news. “Someone told me that, ‘We have found your biological father,'” he says. “I believe my heart stopped.”
