U.S. Biathlon Adds Two Athletes to Open European Championships Team

January 17, 2018 (New Gloucester, Maine) – The U.S. Biathlon International Competition Committee is pleased to announce the final selection for the upcoming IBU Open European Championship team. Jake Brown (St. Paul, Minn.) and Max Durtschi (Ketchum, Idaho) will join the men’s team roster. The ICC reached this decision after confirming plans for Lowell Bailey (Lake Placid, N.Y.) to start only in the relay competition, allowing for seven athletes to participate in the OECH.

Brown and Durtschi will join Bailey, Sean Doherty (Center Conway, N.H.), Paul Schommer (Appleton, Wis.), Jake Ellingson (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Alex Howe (Gilford, N.H.) at the event being held in Ridnaun, Italy, Jan. 23-28.

The U.S. women’s team for the OECH consists of Susan Dunklee (Barton, Vt.), Clare Egan (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), Maddie Phaneuf (Old Forge, N.Y.), Chloe Levins (Rutland, Vt.), Jennie Bender and Deedra Irwin.
