April 18, 2014 (New Gloucester, Maine) – The U.S. Biathlon Association (USBA) International Competition Committee (ICC) has nominated the following male and female athletes to the US Biathlon National Team for the 2014-15 season. In making the nominations ICC followed the published team selection criteria and took into account the recommendations of the coaching staff.  The nominations will be acted upon by the USBA Board of Directors at the next meeting in mid June.

“Looking at the results of the team taken together, this was our best season ever and the national team nominations include three athletes who were on the World Cup podium last season, a historic first,” said US Biathlon President & CEO Max Cobb.

US Biathlon is launching a new team this season, the X Team for athletes who have demonstrated exceptional potential for future success at the World Cup and Olympic level.  The team will be based in Lake Placid and have a training program optimized for their specific needs.

“Congratulations to all the athletes on their success this past season,” said Cobb. “The first training camp gets underway in Lake Placid in early May, so soon it’s back to work preparing for the 2015 season with the hope of even more success.”
