US Biathlon Names Canada’s Jean Paquet as Head Coach Development

June 20, 2014 – US Biathlon is happy to announce that Canada’s Jean Paquet from Quebec,  will begin work as Head Coach Development for the US Biathlon. Paquet has coached for Biathlon Canada for over ten years most recently responsible for coaching Jean-Philippe Le Guellec, Canada’s most successful male athlete ever.

In his role as head coach development Paquet will be responsible for coaching the newly formed X-Team based in Lake Placid, NY, overseeing the National Development Group athletes and supporting US Biathlon’s athlete development efforts.  He will begin his work in August.

“We are really excited to have Jean onboard as we move into this new era for US Biathlon with a big focus and push towards athlete development,” said Chief of Sport Bernd Eisenbichler.

“Jean is a very experienced coach and worked very successfully in Canada over the last decade and brings a lot of expertise to our team. Observing his work over the past years and meeting with him a couple of times in spring, I know that his coaching style will fit perfect in our team.

“We want to have one philosophy from bottom to top at US Biathlon so Jean will work very close with our National Team Coaches and especially our Chief of Coaching Per Nilsson. I am very much looking forward to working with Jean and getting a strong development program running for the future.”
