US Ski Jumpers to Compete in Austria

June 29, 2012 (Stams, Austria) – A trio of US ski jumpers are preparing for this weekend’s summer Continental Cup, in this mecca for ski jumping tucked amidst the magical high peaks of this lovely town, located about 35km west of Innsbruck. Stams is located in the upper Inntal Valley US athletes on hand for both training and several weeks of COC competition are Nick Alexander, Pete Frenette and Anders Johnson; all members of the 2010 US Olympic Team in Vancouver.

US Coach Clint Jones is on hand and said today the US team jumped alongside national teams from Austria, Germany and Sweden. Jones told the USASJ News Bureau he was really pleased with how the training sessions have gone saying, “All three of our guys jumped really well today–great jumps- so everyone seems in very good spirits. Thursday morning we will be doing weights, followed by a mountain adventure in the afternoon. Then Friday more jump training, and competitions on Saturday and Sunday.” All competitions in Stams will be held on the Large Hill, known as the Brunnentalschanze.

The US Team will stay in Europe following the weekend events in Austria, and will be competing later in Kranj, SLO and Wisla, Poland.
