August 08, 2011 (Park City, UT) – A trio of top developing ski jumping talent has been named to the USA Ski Jumping (USASJ) Development team according to USASJ Athletic Director Alan Johnson, in an announcement today.

Named to the squad are Brian Wallace, 18, St. Paul, MN, Christian Friberg, 17, St. Paul, MN and Alex Haupt, 23, Park City, UT. “We are thrilled to have this talented group of jumpers make their way up the ranks, and they are knocking on the door of the top team, it’s a good sign”, said Johnson.

Casey Colby, former US ski jumping Olympian and USASJ Coach and Program Director said of the announcement, “ These young men are the top results getting athletes from the winter and summer season, and they show a great deal of progress for the future.”

Both Wallace and Friberg were members of the 2011 US Junior World team, along side newly crowned US National Champion Peter Frenette and have made large improvements thus far this spring and summer, Colby reported. Haupt, a student at the University of Utah has been working hard and placed a strong top-five result in the Large Hill National Championships, held here a week ago.

This week the top team members of USASJ traveled to famed Hinterzarten, GER, to take part in this weekend’s FIS Summer Grand Prix, working under former US Olympian, Clint Jones. In the group of USASJ jumpers are Nick Alexander, Peter Frenette, Anders Johnson and Nick Fairall. All four jumpers will compete in the team event and in the qualification for the individual event. The best two USASJ jumpers will be the top two athletes at Hinterzarten and they will continue on to several other European venues, including Courchevel and Einsiedeln.
