USA’s Doherty 11th in Men’s Pursuit at IBU WCup Oslo as Norway’s JT Boe Sets New Record with 15th Victory

March 23, 2019 (Oslo, Norway) – American Sean Doherty moved up 21 places to finish 11th with a single penalty in the men’s 12.5km Pursuit as Norway’s Johannes Thingnes Boe won his 15th World Cup of the season eclipsing the previous record of 14 set by France’s Martin Fourcade.

“I’m very happy with today’s race,” said Doherty. “As Qui-Gon Jinn once said, ‘Your focus determines your reality.’ Today, I stayed disciplined on the range and focused on my race and was able to move up. Now the mass start.”

Tarjei Boe finished second with one penalty at 13.9 seconds back while Germany’s Arnd Peiffer, also with one penalty, took third place at 18.2 seconds behind.

Leif Nordgren (USA) was 43rd with two penalties while fellow American Jake Brown finished 48th with four penalties. No Canadians qualified.
