USA’s Jessica Jerome Third at Continental Cup in Germany

release by USSA

September 26, 2008 (Oberstdorf, Germany) – The U.S. Ski Jumping Team’s Jessica Jerome (Park City, UT) pulled in her third Continental Cup podium in a row Friday as she finished third in the season’s seventh event in Germany. “I was really satisfied,” Jerome said. “I think as a whole we all did really well today. We had five of us in the top 16 and we’re really strong right now.”

Jerome led the way while two of her teammates also reeled in top-10 finishes with Lindsey Van in sixth and Alissa Johnson (both Park City, UT) in eighth among a field of nearly 50 international competitors.

According to Jerome, a Westminster College student, her consistency in getting on the podium reaffirms to her that her first win is on its way. “It just gives me more motivation because I know it’s so possible,” Jerome said. “I’m just going to try and keep it consistent. I know what I have to do and I’m going to keep it simple.”

Germany’s Ulrike Graessler won the event, followed by fellow countrywoman Magdalena Schnurr in second. The Team competes in Oberstdorf again on Saturday before they head to Liberec, Czech Republic, for a Continental Cup at the site of the first World Championships for women’s ski jumping on Feb. 20.
