USA’s Doherty Best-ever 14th in IBU Men’s 10km Sprint at Holmenkollen as L’Abee-Lund Wins 1st World Cup

March 15, 2018 (Oslo, Norway) – American Sean Doherty shot clean as he raced to a best-ever 14th-place finish in the men’s 10km Sprint at the Holmenkollen in Oslo at 47.1 seconds behind Norway’s Henrik L’Abee-Lund who claimed his first-ever World Cup win with clean shooting as well.

Sean Doherty (USA) [P] Nordic Focus
Fellow Norge, Johannes Thingnes Boe, finished second at 6.1 seconds back with one penalty. In third was France’s Martin Fourcade who also shooting clean to finish 6.9 seconds behind L’Abee-Lund. The top Canadian was Scott Gow in 49th at 2:02.1 behind with one penalty.

“My skiing has been strong and I am feeling some good momentum at the end of the season here,” said Doherty. “When the shooting comes together, then all the pieces are there for a good race. Now it’s just to keep sharp for the last two events here in Norway and keep the pressure on the guys in front of me.”

The upcoming 12.5km Pursuit will see Doherty, Lowell Bailey (USA) who was 42nd and teammate Leif Nordgren in 43rd along with Scott Gow, Tim Burke (USA) in 57th and Canada’s Christian Gow in 56th. The top 60 athletes qualify for Saturday’s Pursuit race.-
