USSA National Coaches Symposium in Lake Placid – Sept. 11-13

NENSA_Logo_NEWAugust 13, 2015 (Lake Placid, New York) – The 2015 USSA Cross Country Coaches Symposium will be held in Lake Placid at the Olympic Training Center (OTC) from Friday 9/11 at 1pm through Sunday 9/13 at noon, and is open to all coaches. This is a biennial coaches education event featuring a national and international slate of presenters and experts in nordic skiing, coaching and sport science.

The symposium is $300 – registration is online through USSA.org here. Registation is currently open for the symposium until 9/10, or when it is filled.  If you are planning to attend, and would also like to room at the OTC, you should contact Haley Smith at USSA at: hsmith@ussa.org by no later then 5pm on Monday 8/17.  The cost of room and board at the OTC is only $45 per day per person – what a bargain!  For those coaches from the LP area, or staying nearby – you can purchase either a facilities access pass for $8 per day, or access and lunch for $22 per day.

Along with the National Coaches Symposium, USSA will also be offerin the L200 coaches certificaiton training the two days prior to the symposium, starting 9/9 at 12 noon & 9/10 all day.  The L200 USSA coaches training will be lead by Bryan Fish, Development Coach for the USST.  It will include ~10 hours of training and a 3 hour exam. This is for any coach who already holds a USSA L100, and wants to advance to the next level. Cost will be $110. You can register on-line at NENSA here. Deadline to register for the USSA L200 training is September 1st.

You must already hold a USSA L100 coach certificaiton in order to take the L200 certificiaton training.

Requirements for USSA L100 certification include:  registering to take the L100 exam at USSA.org and then getting 80% or higher on L100 exam (USSA provides a very good and compressive coaches manual to read before taking the exam), completing a USSA approved technique clinic (one of our fall NENSA clinics), current first aid/CPR certification, and a current USSA Coach Membership.
