December 20, 2012 Colorado Springs, CO) – U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO Bill Marolt was named Thursday to the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) Board of Directors. He will serve a four year term as a representative of the National Governing Bodies Council. A 1964 Olympian, Marolt has led the USSA since 1996 playing an active role during that time with both the USOC and International Ski Federation. In his career he has worked at all levels of sport from athlete to coach to program director and National Governing Body leader.

HIGHLIGHTS
• U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO Bill Marolt was named to the U.S. Olympic Committee Board of Directors.
• Marolt will serve a four year term as representative of the National Governing Bodies Council.
• Marolt has served as president and CEO of the USSA since 1996, while also functioning as vice president of the International Ski Federation (FIS).
• Prior to leading the NGB, he spent 12 years as athletic director at his alma mater, the University of Colorado.
• As an athlete, he won three U.S. championships and four NCAA titles, and competed in the 1964 Olympic Winter Games. Later, as a coach, he led Colorado to seven NCAA titles from 1969-78, then went on to serve as director of the U.S. alpine program from 1978-84.
• Marolt was selected following a search by the USOC’s Nominating and Governance Committee.
• In other action, the USOC Board reaffirmed Chairman Larry Probst for a second four-year term and also named Whitney Ping to the board as an Athletes’ Advisory Council director.
