May 18, 2010 – The 4th meeting of the FIS Coordination Group for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme (ITA) was held in Cavalese on Wednesday 12th May 2010. The ever-growing team of Fiemme 2013 hosted the representatives of FIS, the TV and marketing rights holder EBU, its sales agency Tridem Sports and the host broadcaster RAI, with its genuine heart-felt Italian hospitality.

Following the FIS World Cups #99-105 in Val di Fiemme last season, the meeting reviewed the current state of preparations for the third Championships in the valley. The organizing committee is continuing its new focus on marketing and communications to ensure full stadiums and an excellent atmosphere at the 2013 Championships. At the core of the 2013 campaign will be the ValleViva concept that seeks to establish Val di Fiemme as ‘the most livable valley of the world’. Given the major construction at the Predazzo Ski Jumping venue, there will be no Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined competitions next season. This reconstruction is part of an infrastructure investment of 25 million Euros by the region of Trentino for the 2013 championships. In the upcoming season special attention will be given to developing Cross-Country events and attracting more children and families to visit the competitions and entertainment programme. The process of surveying the spectators will be expanded in order to gain a better understanding of their on-site experience, demographics and effectiveness of the different marketing channels.

RAI, the host broadcaster, presented its advanced state of planning for the infrastructure concept of broadcasting operations and. The technology concept for broadcasting and telecommunications will be based on state-of-the-art network undertaken by Trentino Network linking all the venues with fiber optic cabling which will facilitate the broadcast operation and transmission of the Championships and set a new benchmark for future championships.

FIS Secretary General Sarah Lewis summarized: “Each time we come to Val di Fiemme, and this was the fourth Coordination Group meeting, the organizing committee shows another big step forward. The cooperation between the province, the towns of the valley and the organizing committee is exemplary. Hearing today that 700 volunteers including many young people have already signed up with the championships nearly three years away and the free English courses run by the organizing committee are already full with 127 signing up is remarkable.”
