June 13, 2006 – The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) issued the following response to news of a tragic accident today south of Whistler, BC on the access road under construction to the Whistler Nordic Centre.

“We are tremendously saddened by the news of the tragic accident today on the access road under construction to the Whistler Nordic Centre in the Callaghan Valley. The thoughts and prayers of our entire Vancouver 2010 team are with the families, friends and co-workers of the individual involved in today’s tragedy.”
