December 24, 2013 – The 8th edition of the Viessmann FIS Tour de Ski performance by Craft sportswear will soon begin with stages in Oberhof (GER), Lenzerheide (SUI), Cortina/Toblach (ITA) and Val di Fiemme (ITA).

After difficult weather conditions in the last 10 days, the Organising Committee of Oberhof did everything possible to collect snow from the region to ensure the competition course will be ready for the start of the FIS Tour de Ski.

“It’s very good news we can start the 8th FIS Tour de Ski in Oberhof. I know the Organising Committee has been working really hard to make the first Tour stages in Oberhof possible. Thanks to the efforts of the Organising Committee, volunteers, ski clubs and other supporters we will be able to carry out the competition programme in Oberhof as planned,” FIS Cross-Country Race Director Pierre Mignerey said.

Seven competitions in nine days

After the opening competitions in Oberhof, Tour stages three and four will be held in Lenzerheide with a free technique sprint on 31st December 2013 and classical mass start competition on New Year’s Day.

After the second rest day, the Tour will continue in Cortina – Toblach (ITA) on 3rd January 2014 with distance competitions for the ladies and the A to B stage from Cortina to Toblach for the men. The FIS Tour de Ski will, as per tradition, conclude in Val di Fiemme with an individual start competition on 4th January and the Final Climb on 5th January 2014.
