Volunteers Needed for Big Races with Top Skiers in Alaska

Randall, Newell, Koos and Freeman

release by the Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks
March 21, 2008 (Fairbanks, Alaska) – Next week we’re hosting the biggest races we’ve had since the 2003 Junior Olympics. On Tuesday (Mar. 25) and Wednesday (Mar. 26) evenings we’re having the “Tour of the Golden Heart” individual and sprint races, and on Friday (Mar. 28) evening and Sunday daytime (Mar. 30) we’re hosting the US Ski Association National Championships in the Skiathlon (7.5Km CL + 7.5Km Free for women, 15Km CL + 15Km Free for Men) and the “marathon” distance races (30km classic for women, 50km classic for men).

These races will feature all of the top skiers in the US, including World Cup race winner Kikkan Randall, World Cup podium finishers Andy Newell and Torin Koos, and top World Cup skier Kris Freeman. If you want the chance to get “up close and personal” with such outstanding skiers, you should volunteer.

We really want and need to do a top-notch job on a National Championship event such as this, and to do that we need lots of volunteers. Please join up. The weekday races don’t start before 5:00pm, so you would need to take off little, if any, time from work to help out as a volunteer.
