West Yellowstone USSA SuperTour Day 2 – Zimmerman and Arritola Triumph

by Graham Longford

November 25, 2011 (West Yellowstone, MT) – Day Two of the USSA SuperTour proceeded today in West Yellowstone with the distance skate races – 15km for the men and 10km for the women. Morgan Arritola (Sun Valley SEF) took the win over Jesse Diggins (CXC Team) with CXC’s Caitlin Gregg [Compton] rounding out the podium in 3rd.

While the bulk of both fields was American, a small contingent of Canadians from the Alberta World Cup Academy in Canmore, AB, made the trip south in search of quality fields to compete against. Annika Hicks (AWCA) finished 19th in the women’s race.

Leif Zimmerman (Bridger Ski Foundation/Madshus) topped the men’s field with a convincing victor over Sylvan Ellefson (SSC Vail) in second while Wednesday’s sprint winner Michael Sinnott (Sun Valley SEF) landed on the podium in third. Canadian Graeme Killick (AWCA) was just under a minute behind the winner placing a strong 5th.
