  • 2010 Olympic Ski Jumping Normal Hill Qualifications – Canadian Jumpers Out

    by skitrax.com
February 12, 2010   (Whistler, BC) – There was disappointment for the Canadian home town athletes at the Ski Jumping Normal Hill  Qualifications on Friday at Whistler Olympic Park. The four Canucks gave it their best for the maple leaf and local fans but  Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes (44th) at 92.5m and 105 points, Trevor Morrice (46th) just behind him at 92m and 103.5 points, Stefan Read (47th) with a jump of 91.5m and 103 points, and Eric Mitchell (49th) who jumped 89m and received 98.5 points did not advance to Saturday’s medal competition. Only the top 40 ski jumpers move on to the finals.

“Basically all four years lead to one second that can screw you all up,” said Canada’s Read. “I just had little technical problem, I know I can do better.” Mitchell, who was the first Canadian to jump at the qualifications added, “I was definitely excited and I feel great because I’m the youngest member of the team. It’s great to be here and have a good jump for my first Olympics on home soil. At the top I definitely had shivers down my spine as I heard everyone cheering down there.”

Germany’s Michael Uhrmann topped the qualifications with a jump of 106m for 138.5 points.

    Full qualifications here.
