February 14, 2010 (Whistler, BC) – Johnny Spillane scored the first US Nordic medal of the
2010 Games skiing up from 4th after the jump to grab the silver in a tight race, as Jason Lamy-Chappuis stormed to win another gold for France following Vincent Jay’s win earlier in the day in the men’s biathlon 10km sprint.Spillane held off Alessandro Pittin (ITA) by 4/10ths of a second for the silver, as the Italian settled for the bronze. American Todd Lodwick, who was 2nd after the jump, charged to the front of the cross-countr
y race, but ran out of steam and missed the podium by 1.5seconds finishing in 4th.The USA’s Bill Demong, 24th after the jump, had a phenomenal ski, moving up to 6th, at 17.9 seconds out of first. Brett Camerota (USA) 10th after the jump, lost time to finish 36th. Canada’s Jason Myslicki was 43rd after the jump, and with a ski time of 27:20.7 over the 10km course, placed 45th.
