Graphic Designer
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is seeking a talented graphic designer and creative leader for its Toronto office. Working closely with the Associate Manager, Brand in Toronto, ON, the Graphic Designer will play an integral role in the creation of all creative assets for the organization. This individual will work very closely with all departments to support key marketing initiatives, including Digital, Marketing Partnerships, Communications, Education, Youth and Community Outreach and the Canadian Olympic Foundation. Strong layout and typography skills are essential to success, as is passion for design. Photography, illustration, and animation skills are an asset and a passion for sport is preferred.
Core Responsibilities and Priorties:
– Serve as the primary internal creative resource for the organization
– Create innovative design work and solutions that meet the creative brief as provided by key internal/external stakeholders
– Establish and maintain a design process that assigns and tracks time and resources required on project-by-project basis
– Working with the Associate Manager, Brand, receive briefs and propose creative options with workback schedule
– Provide creative leadership to the organization, acting as a key brand advisor for all creative assets
– Ensure that all creative assets are tied into the brand platform and design system
– Assist with the development and execution of all branding of signature COC events and experiences
– Design templates for all COC departments that will be used internally as well as for select client groups
– When required, manage external design freelancers and vendors, ensuring brand consistency and quality
– Liaison with external agencies as required
Qualifications and Critical Skills:
– Post-secondary training in visual design
– 3 years’ related experience in an agency or marketing environment (recent college or university graduates with strong internship experience are also encouraged to apply)
– Proficient in the latest editions of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat
– Ability to work in both Mac and PC platforms
– Video editing and motion graphic capability
– Ability to constantly stay abreast of emerging graphic trends and developments in software
– Previous experience working with multiple applications including print, web, signage, advertising and presentations. A portfolio demonstrating work experience is mandatory
– Excellent interpersonal/communications, analytical and organizational skills
– Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
– Self-motivated, creative team player
– Communication and problem solving skills
– Attention to detail
– Bilingualism (English/French) an asset

The COC is seeking a dynamic individual to join its Toronto office. The Associate Manager, Brand role requires a uniquely skilled individual who will be responsible for developing, planning, executing, monitoring, and measuring key Canadian Olympic Team brand activities. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Brand the role is a key member of the Brand Marketing team which has responsibility for brand development, positioning, and governance. This individual should have a strong marketing background, with a preference to those familiar with the sport marketing industry. The role requires the ability to collaborate with key internal colleagues and COC marketing partners, manage external agency partners, and oversee multiple projects.
Core Responsibilities and Priorties:
Brand Strategy & Planning
– Assist in developing long-term brand strategy and vision, setting annual and quadrennial objectives.
– Assess new brand development opportunities based on strategic fit, always ensuring each project contributes to the greater brand purpose with a keen eye for innovation.
Brand Campaigns
– Support the development, planning, and execution of integrated marketing campaigns within established budgets and timelines.
– Lead the development of briefs for agencies and the evaluation of creative based on brand objectives.
Brand Advocacy & Leadership
– Act as a brand leader and advocate with all key internal/external stakeholders
– Lead the development and maintenance of brand use guidelines for all key internal/external stakeholders
– Establish and facilitate a forum for sharing key brand activities throughout the organization
– Monitor industry trends and recognition opportunities for the brand including award submissions
Research & Insights
– Lead the creation and maintenance of an integrated market research framework for all COC marketing activities.
– Act as the primary liaison with research and insights partners, analyzing and reporting on key brand marketing activities and their respective business impact.
Media Planning
– Lead media planning for all brand marketing activities with an understanding of different media options and their potential impact.
– Manage media partnerships and allocate inventory to appropriate projects
Creative Process
– Manage the internal process for all COC creative needs including intake, creative development, and production.
– Working with internal graphic design resource and external vendors, deliver against the creative needs of the organization, ensuring all creative assets contribute to the greater brand purpose.
Relationship & People Management
– Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, agencies, and marketing partners
– Manage and provide coaching to direct report(s) including drafting the performance and development plan,
Qualifications and Critical Skills:
– University degree in Marketing, Advertising, Sport Management, or related field
– 4-5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: brand, marketing, media, at brand and/or agency
– Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills. Bilingualism (French, English) considered a strong asset
– Enthusiastic self-starter with the ability to work effectively within a team environment
– Proven budget management skills
– Hard working, determined and tenacious
– Demonstrated leadership abilities with a drive for excellence
