October 02, 2017 (Norway) – Retired xc skier, Bjørn Dæhlie, aged 50, is among the 400 richest people in Norway reports Kapital magazine. With an estimated worth of 625 million kroner ($78 million USD or $98 million CDN), Dæhlie ranks 394th on the list.

Described by Wikpedia as “the most successful cross-country skier in history”, Dæhlie won the FIS World Cup series six times. He also has eight Olympic gold medals to his credit between the 1992 Albertville, the 1994 Lillehammer, and the 1998 Nagano Olympic Winter Games.

After retiring from skiing in 2001, Dæhlie has become a successful businessman in real estate and fashion. He has been featured in numerous advertising campaigns, he started a brand of signature ski apparel that bears his name, and he co-hosted a television show called Gutta på tur.

Topping Kapital’s top 400 list is shipping magnate John Fredriksen with a net worth of 98 billion kroner ($12 billion USD).
