February 12, 2018 (PyeongChang, South Korea) – Canada’s Rosanna Crawford delivered a superb top-20 result finishing a best-ever 19th in the women’s 10km pursuit with two penalties as she moved up 34 spots from her start position in 53rd. Germany’s Laura Dahlmeier claimed her second gold  with one missed target.

Despite four penalties, Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia out-sprinted France’s Anais Bescond in a race to the line to claim the silver medal by 0.2 second margin with Bescond, who suffered one missed target, settling for the bronze.

“I really like the 2km course here, it’s got one big climb off the start and then some rolling sections at the top and then you rip back down to the stadium. It was cold and quite windy again tonight,” said Crawford who was 2:27.7 behind Dahlmeier. “But I am was really happy with my zero in prone and confident in the corrections I made there. In my 2nd standing I didn’t mean to take the first shot, my finger slipped on the trigger – so disappointed about that.

“Overall I’m really happy with my race! Moving up 34 spots is pretty cool, but also kinda sad because I really wish the sprint had been better. I knew that the pursuit was going to be my best chance for a good result because it suits me so much,” she commented. “We have an easy day of training tomorrow and then the 15km Individual on Wednesday night.”

Fellow Canuck, Julia Ransom, was 28th at 3:03.0 behind with one penalty while the lone American entrant, Emily Dreissigacker, finished a career-best 47th at her Olympic debut at 5:01.4 behind with four missed targets. Canada’s Emma Lunder was 53rd also with four penalties.

“It’s a good feeling, but I’d like to do even better,” said Dreissigacker, a first-time Olympian. “I was not super excited with my last standing shooting stage where I missed two, but up until that point it was all going really well. My skis were amazingly fast.”
