January 28, 2019 (Osrblie, Slovakia) – Canada’s Trevor Kiers made the top 20 finishing 17th in the junior men’s 15km individual start with three penalties as France’s Martin Bourgeois Republique won gold with one missed target at the IBU Junior World Championships. The USA’s Vaclav Cervenka with two penalties and teammate Lars Hammernes Leopold with three missed targets were tied in 32nd. Mikita Labastau of Belarus won silver while the bronze went to Germany’s Danilo Riethmueller.
Canadian Nadia Moser led the North American women in their 12.5km individual start finishing 18th with four penalties while Chloe Levins was the top American in 50th. China’s Fanqi Meng took the gold in the junior women’s individual. The silver medal went to Germany’s Juliane Fruehwirt, while her teammate, Franziska Pfnuer, earned the bronze.
