February 01, 2019 (Osrblie, Slovakia) – In the Youth Men’s 7.5km Sprint Canada’s Logan Pletz led the North Americans in tough, snowy conditions finishing 19th with one penalty as Alex Cisar of Slovenia took the IBU Youth Worlds men’s title also with one missed target. Garrett Beckrich was the top American in 45th with three penalties. The silver medal went to Cisar’s teammate, Lovro Planko, while the bronze medal was won by Finland’s Otto Invenius.
In the youth women’s 6km sprint held later in the day amid a mixture of snow and rain, Canadian Jenna Sherrington was 39th with three penalties followed by teammate Shilo Rousseau in 42nd with one missed target. The top American was Helen Wilson in 55th also with one penalty. Norway’s Maren Bakken shot clean for the win over Switzerland’s Amy Baserga in second with one miss and Norway’s Marte Moeller rounding out the podium with clean shooting as well.
