Position Overview

Reporting to the General Manager, and working closely with the Management Team, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for delivering a variety of marketing initiatives that reinforce HSB’s brand and contribute to its growth in media coverage, attendance, membership sign-ups, and revenue generation. Full-time permanent position. 40 hours/week. Flexibility to work some weekends.

Position’s Mandate

To help innovate and recruit new events – corporate and special events – in both seasons, with an emphasis on growing summer activities.

To nurture existing and strike new professional relationships – with local businesses as well as key, global industry players – to leverage partnership and marketing opportunities.

To develop new sources of revenue within the limitations of existing physical and media assets.
To grow online presence and engagement.
To assist with a fundraising campaign, in progress.

Duties

Social Media: Coordinate and manage social media content, which includes but is not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, newsletters, and website.

Budget Management: Manage the marketing budget and optimize financial allocation to achieve the best results for the targeted audience.

Special Event Management: Coordinate and lead special events teams, which includes hiring, training, and managing event staff.

Volunteer Management: Coordinate, train, and oversee large groups of event volunteers.

Marketing Campaigns: Create, plan, and execute marketing plans related to existing or new initiatives, which includes creating and distributing print and digital marketing materials.

Design and develop content for annual winter and summer brochures.
Media Contact: Represent the organization as its dedicated media contact, which includes coordinating press conferences and media releases.

Networking & Relationship Management: Liaise and build relationships with multiple organizations, local, regional, provincial, national, and global, to leverage partnerships, source opportunities, and conduct research.

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated team player with a minimum of 3 years of marketing experience. You champion a healthy lifestyle. You take a positive, can-do approach to problem-solving.

Background & Skills

– Marketing and communications skills: brand management, marketing calendars, and campaigns, newsletter, reports, liaising with graphic design service, media releases, etc.
– Experience in managing social media as well as developing print collateral.
– Experience in sports, resort, recreation, or tourism marketing.
– Experience in the fast-paced and multi-tasked environment and proven focus on meeting deadlines.
– Proven relationship builder, “burn no bridge” personality and skills.
Technical skills: Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Photoshop, Constant Contact, WordPress, YouTube, video editing

Good to Have

Experience in cross-country skiing and/or mountain biking, hiking or snowshoeing; healthy, active lifestyle.

Educational Credentials

– Post-secondary in Marketing, Communications, Tourism, Sports, or related sector.
– Demonstrated passion for marketing with ongoing professional development.

Talents and Personality

– Plan and prioritize own work with minimal supervision.
– Consult management for clarification; update management on issues.
– Lead by example, exemplifying ethical principles in accordance with HSB values.
