August 15, 2010 – Last week Polish xc ski star, Justyna Kowalczyk, signed a new sponsorship deal with a Polish bank worth 125,000 Euros. She also said that she has trained more volume than last year. “I spent three weeks on the Dachstein glacier. Skiing there was perfect and the weather was warm so I could train in a swimming suit. I am now leaving for Estonian Otepää where I plan to stay for three weeks.”
Kowalczyk is known for her strength-oriented skiing and good physical preparation and has increased her volume of training more than ever. “Actually, after last season I didn’t have a real break,” she told Polish newspaper sport.pl. “In April we went to Kamchatka, then we had a three-week camp in the mountains. When you’re at a mountain training camp it’s always about volume. The hardest times I had were in the Sierra Nevada where I trained at over two thousand meters.”Kowalczyk’s team remains more or less unchanged and it’s clear what she wants to achieve next season. “I would like to win the big crystal overall World Cup globe for the third time. The Oslo XC World Champs is a goal as well. I’m training the same way as I did before Liberec in 2009, so we’ll see how it goes,” added Kowalczyk.
