Hard Work is Recipe for Kuhn’s Success

by skitrax.com

September 09, 2010 – Being a dedicated, full time athlete can be a heavy burden at times. Having to train twice a day, eat, rest and recovery properly, and commit your winter to nothing but racing and living out of a suitcase can make any ski racer question their motivation and drive. Some stick it out to the end – some don’t.

Some leave ski racing behind while they pursue other avenues, only to realize how much they actually miss recovery drinks and the feeling of collapsing at the finish line. Even fewer will have the courage to come back, to make up lost ground and take another shot at their dream. Canada’s Stef Kuhn is one of those athletes.

Just prior to the Olympics he did an interview with the Canwest News Service about his years not as a high-level athlete but as a high-level chef. It’s an interesting read, and well worth it for anyone wondering what life outside the ski world can be like. Check it out HERE.
