September 10, 2010 (Canmore, Alberta) – Fast and Female presented by Best Buy is dedicated to the empowerment through sport of young women ages 9 to 19. With an emphasis on cross-country skiing, biathlon and complimentary summer endurance sports, Fast and Female hosts events led by athletic champions who serve as healthy role models and inspire girls to gain the confidence and leadership they need to reach their full potential in life and sports. In parallel, Fast and Female educates parents, coaches, and sports leaders to ensure they foster the most supportive environment for their young female athletes.

Fit-Fest in Canmore
Fast and Female presented by Best Buy will host its first Women’s Fit-Fest in Canmore, Alberta on September 18, 2010. Held in conjunction with CBC’s Sports Day in Canada, the women-only event will be held at the Canmore Collegiate High School from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature dancing, boot camp circuits, drumming, and an inspirational presentation by Fast and Female founder and 2006 Olympic gold medalist in Cross-Country skiing – Chandra Crawford.

All proceeds from the event will do directly towards supporting Fast and Female’s ambitious plans for 2011 including reaching more than 1,400 girls ages 9 to 19 all across Canada and the United States.

Rates
– Girls 5 to 8 years old = FREE including activity and lunch!
– Young women 9 to 19 = $20 including the activity, a free Fast and Female t-shirt and a lunch!
– Adults = $40 including the activity, a goody bag and a lunch!
