November 06, 2010 – The US Ski Team is proud to announce the coaching rosters for the the 2011 JWC and U23 World Championship trip and the Scandinavia Championship Trip. The 2011 JWC and U23 World Championship trip marks one of the premier steps of the elite athlete and coach development pipeline in the U.S. The U.S. Ski Team is pleased to announce the 2011 staff:
– Matt Whitcomb, Trip Leader, Junior Head Coach U.S. Ski Team
– Bryan Fish, U23 Head Coach, U.S. Ski Team
– Randy Gibbs, Head Service, U.S. Ski Team
– Andrew Johnson, Service, University of Vermont
– Casey Fagerquist, Service, Alaska Pacific University
– Justin Beckwith, Service, Green Mountain Valley School
– Amy Caldwell, Coach, Boulder Nordic Sport
– Daniel Weiland, Coach, Ski and Snowboard Club Vail
The trip will launch on January 16th. The team will live in Vierumaki, Finland at a pre-camp from January 17th-23rd, and will then drive and ferry to the race venue in Otepaa, Estonia for six days of competitions. The team will depart from either Tallin, Estonia, or Helsinki, Finland on February 1st. This trip receives a combined $20,000 in support from the NCCSEF and the U.S. Ski Team.
USST Announces 2011 J1 Scandinavian Coaching Staff
The J1 Scandinavia Championship Trip is a fixed piece of the elite athlete and coach development pipeline in the U.S. having been in place as an organized trip for over ten years. Most U.S. Ski Team and many World Junior Team athletes participated in this trip in the past.
The U.S. Ski Team is pleased to announce the 2011 staff:
– Matthew Johnson, Head Coach Burke Mountain Academy
– Peter Leonard, Head Serviceman FXC – Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks
– Kate Barton, Coach Jackson Hole High School
The trip is expected to launch on January 26th and due to return on February 9th. Coaches and athletes will fly into Ostersund, Sweden for a pre-camp and a race opportunity before driving to Ornskoldsvik, Sweden for championship racing on February 4 – 6th.
