October 6, 2004 – Help us plan and implement effective participation of women in skiing as we move toward hosting the Olympics in 2010. The CCC Women’s Committee is hosting a planning workshop and seminar to address some of the opportunities and challenges that women meet in our sport.

It will be held in Silver Star on the weekend of the 1st Continental Cup of the 2004-05 season. Drop in for a day or come for the entire 3 days. Participants will stay on the hill in group accommodation (chalet type). To minimize the cost we will be making and sharing group meals.

The weekend will include:

– Seminars on emerging issues

– Discussion on the women’s committee and its role in CCC

– Technique sessions on skiing (suitable for early on-snow activity)

– Program planning ideas for GO SKI (Girls on Skis) to encourage

– Participation in an active lifestyle that includes skiing; and Women on Ski Days

– Unstructured ski time (with discount trail fee)

– Race support (time to watch the race or learn how to do splits, video, officiate etc)

– Opportunity to meet the National Women’s Team

Everyone is welcome to come and participate. We encourage parents, coaches, race support staff, officials, club volunteers and active skiers to share your experiences and to learn from each other.
