December 28, 2010 (Inner Mongolia, China) – The 4th annual Tour De Ski China with around 80 professional skiers from over 10 countries got underway today with brisk temperatures of -19.3 degrees in Xiwuqi in Inner Mongolia. Sweden’s Adam Jonhansson won the men’s 5.4km by 1.08s over compatriot Anders Hoegberg in second with Finland’s Kusti Kittilae taking 3rd spot on the podium
In the women’s 3.6km race, China swept the podium with Li Hongxue winning over E Yingcui in second and Li Xin in 3rd. Kristina Strandberg from Sweden lead the international field in 5th followed by Mari Eide from Norway in 6th.
The second stage at the Tour in China takes place in the city of XiWuQi on December 29 with 1.2km freestyle sprints.
The “king stage” is stage three on Dec. 30, featuring the first ever cross-country ski race to take place in the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing.
The final stage on Jan. 2, 2011 is the 50km Classic Chinese Vasaloppet in beautiful Yingjuetan park outside of Changchun, a city of 7 million, a 1/2 hour flight north of Beijing.
