FIS Rollerski World Championships 2005

September 10, 2005 – The results of the first day of FIS Rollerski World Championships 2005 in Tremblade Ronce les Bains are in.

In the relay men race (3 x 10.5 km) the Italian team won with Julies PESSION, Simone PAREDI and Alfio DI GREGORIO (53:46,50) and second place to Sweden with Tobias WESTMAN, Bjorn ANDERSSON and Johan HAAMAAS (53:47,20). The bronze medal went to Ukraina with Mykhaylo GUMENYAK, Oleksandr PUTSKO and Vitaly MARTSYV (53:48,70).

A second gold medal went to the Italian expedition in the women’s relay (3 x 7,5 m) with the team composed by Mateja PAULINA, Viviana DRUIDI and Mateja BOGATEC (final time 44:23,50). The Russian team finished in the second position with three Elena: RODINA, NENYUKOVA and VEDENEEVA (44:24,00) and third step of the podium for Germany with Theres WOLF, Marie MEWES and Ilka OSTERMEIER-NEUMANN (46:07,30).

Another medal for Italy: in the Junior race they won “only” the silver medal. Sweden won and bronze went to France.

Tomorrow morning the athletes will compete in the prologue and in the evening they will be engaged in sprint race.
