April 28, 2011 – Last October we reported that Russian skier Yevgeny Dementiev, who retired after testing positive for EPO during the 2009 Tour de Ski in Val di Fiemme, was considering a comeback in 2011-12. His two-year doping ban ends in August 2011 and according to his
blog on eurosport.ru he’s planning to return this coming season reports skierpost.com. Not everyone agrees that two years was enough for Dementiev who won Olympic gold in the Pursuit in 2006 in Torino – read more in Langrenn.com

…much to Marty Hall’s dismay.

That is correct Federer–I’m anti-doping and I know you are pro-doping as I can make a pretty good guess as to which side of the city you are from and maybe even farther east in earlier years—-too bad Dementiev doesn’t live in Finland—it wouldn’t be an issue there.

Actually I am not from Berlin, the username and location is just for shits and giggles, (welcome to the 21st century mate) nor am I a fascist, racist, anti-woman’s rights like yourself. I don’t generalize and don’t point fingers, but i can certainly start to do so, if you wish. Let’s take US professional sports, for example. Why is there so much doping in T&F, Baseball and Football? Justin Gatlin just returned from a four year doping suspension. What do you think about that? Are you the reincarnation of Joseph Mccarthy or have you been watching too much Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck? BTW, from what I hear, Berlin is one of the more progressive European cities, and Germany is certainly a world powerhouse. The Germans/Berlin have moved on from their troubled past, why can’t you? If there was a problem with Berlin, it wouldn’t be Germany’s capital and one of the most visited places in the EU.

Just dropping by to see if there was a response. Surprise, surprise, there wasn’t. I suppose you feel confused and/or angered? You see, doping is a global problem, always was, always will be. Do Russians dope? Of course they do. Your problem, like the media dogs I mentioned above, is looking at one side and one side only and constantly and consistently attack one side while not looling at the fallacies on your side of the river. I put that list of doping scandals/articles to show you the other side of the river. Are you dumbfounded at the number of cycling cases? Are you surprised of all the HGH cases in football and baseball? T&F? You assume that anyone and everyone coming from ‘the East,’ is doping, while failing to acknowledge that there have been an equal amount, if not more than, doping cases in the West. Was there doping in East Germany? Sure there was (coincidentally, the old East German system of searching for and finding and helping talented young athletes is commonly used today in western Europe, most notably in Scandinavia via the “Gymnasiums”). Was there doping in XC skiing in countries like the USSR? Of course, but what about Finland, Spain, Italy, Austria, and Germany post 1989? Are those countries ‘Eastern?’ Is Johann Muehlegg an Easterner, perhaps he was/is an undercover KGB agent, but did a wonderful job of not getting caught. Is Finland a former Soviet state? Not that I know of. Are Ben Johnson and Floyd Landis Russian expatriates living in North America? Did Michael Rasmussen make frequent trips to and from East Germany to prepare for the TDF? Perhaps Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire went to Moscow to get their training and came back hitting more home runs in one season than most players do in a career? Are you now gonna tell me that Babikov and Gaiazova are doping?
